Romeo & Juliet

Atomi Theatre Collective was founded in November of 2023 by Artistic Director Kemper Kisner in honor of the late James Loehlin, Director of Programming of Shakespeare at Winedale. In a spirit of collaboration borne of Kisner’s Winedale years, the Collective is composed of passionate, intelligent, classically trained artists working in a process decidedly outside the theatrical norm – one without a singular director leading each production. The name “Atomi” - which some might recognize from Mercutio’s infamous conjuration of Queen Mab’s drawing of a “team of little atomi over men’s noses as they lie asleep,” - derives from the Greek “atomos,” which refers to things that cannot be divided – in other words, a Collective. In our Collective, we think of ourselves as a form of Atomi: artists working together to carry dreams and bring a vision to life.
